The entire run of the X Files is now available on Netflix instant view. My oldest daughter decided that she was intersted in finding out what it was all about, so we're working our way through the first season. I remember when the series premiered and my wife and I used to get together with friends to watch the show on fridays. I was a big fan of he show for the first three seasons or so, but I started to get frustrated with the "mytharc" that seemed to get just a little too convoluted to follow any more.
I'm also amazed at how different the production values are, even though it doesn't seem like it was that long ago that the show was made. It may have something to do with the fact that the show was shot on film vs. digital video. It's weird how my perception of image quality has changed so much that I can look at something I saw years ago and be so shocked by the way it looks. *EDIT* In deference to the numerous typos originally appearing in this newspost I will refrain from posting updates from the couch while wedged between my kids and watching Phineas and Ferb at the same time.
