I'm running from one job to the next, so I have to keep the pithy discourse to a minimum. I was on the run the last time I posted as well, which is why the previous blogpost is so riddled with typos. Sorry!

Yes, today we're doing a splash page.  Trust me, it'll look great in the print version.

Here we go again

Once more we're back with a few new pages of Dire Destiny. I have aq handful of pages in the bank here and Mikolaj promises another handful shortly, so we should be able to have a couple of weeks of uninterrupted updates as we stagger forward towards the conclusion of chaoter four.  Both Mikolaj and i are really busy with the work that feeds our families, so the comic really has a hard struggle to get upstream to the spawning grounds these days, if you'll pardon a particularly tortured metaphor.  Rest assured that you're not alone!  There are two other projects of mine that have suffered ridiculous delays in the last three months, but a number of things are slowly comming to fruition:

The Very Last Book About Alignment is nearing completion - in fact we're ll be into typsetting and art within the next week or so. Very exciting.  It should be ready in time for Paizocon in July, where I will be running the Second Annual Paizocon Jousting Tournament.  Looking forward to that!

It's looking REALLY dicey, but we're still pushing to get Book 4 of Dire Destiny finished for GEN CON. I know this is the third year in a row we've said that, but in the absence of a truck full of money pulling up to our door we can only slog away and plead that we need to suffer for our art.  I guess we'll be "artists in torment" a little longer!

The "Moorcock Project" is on hold, but fear not, it's still on the radar.  I was supposed to be well along with it by now, but I think I'm going to need a couple more months to get that idea up to speed.  It was always supposed to be next in line after the Alignment book, and since that ran into delays, the next book got pushed inexorably backwards.

I'm also working on a Pathfinder-compatible revision of "The Tomb of Haggemoth" which is turning out to be more involved than I first imagined, but stay tuned on that front.

FInally, hte big super-secret project I've been hiding under my hat also had a few setbacks, including the departure of one collaborator - however, that's been balanced out by the arrival of a few more.  SO... fingers crossed.  I guess the big stunning reveal wil need to wait another couple of months.

That's all for now, true believers. Since I have pages to post, expect me to be a little more chatty in the coming weeks.

Trouble Brewing

I'm getting ambitious again, and that's when things get dangrous.  Right now I've got three new projects in the works.  One of them you know about: the Moorcock Project , in which I try to write a pulp novel about a creephat wizard over a weekend in the putative style of Michael Moorcock.  You can still read the short story that kicked off this shebang here .  I'll hopefully have another update on that soon.

The second one I am ready to announce, I think.  I've had great success with the book I published for Paizo's Pathfinder RPG: The Very Last Book About Mounted Combat .  It's gotten great reviews and been selling well at the Paizo site - so well that I have decided to commit to a follow-up.  This new book will aim to tackle a somewhat controversial subject, much debated in RPG circles since the first edition of Dungens and Dragons.  Still, I am to have the final word with a modest tome I plan to call "The Very Last Book About Alignment".

The third new project is still super-double-secret for the moment.  Its the most ambitious thing I've done in over a decade.  It very well may ruin me.  Hopefully I'll have an announcement on that befre next month.  Stay tuned!

I'm not the only one brewing trouble, however: Mikolaj has been disappointed that he can't make it to the USA to meet you guys and watch me harangue you into buying our books (which you should totally do).  However, he is considering taking the plunge himself and bringing Dire Destiny to a European comic convention near you! (If you happen to live in Europe, and I know that quite a few of you do if the traffic logs are any kind of indicator.)  More news on that will, I am sure, be forthcming.
