Chapter 4, Page 364: Land of Confusion

Bretonnians

An orphan who grew up in care of the Blacksmith of Joinville, a thorpe originally under the protection of Sir Hugh of the Great Lance. Sir Hugh was a bachelor, and when he was slain while fighting at Sir Alfred's side during the initial Skaven attack at Garoux, Joinville was left without a Knight to protect it. As Alain was the strongest man in the village, it was decided that he should fill the vacancy as a Knight Errant, following the most ancient traditions of Bretonnia. He forged his knightly gear himself and sought to make his way in the world as a true Knight. After winning glory during the battle of the Grove of Isoulde, he was inspired to follow his Captain in taking up the Grail Quest. A man of the people, he has been largely responsible for recruiting and organizing the peasant auxiliaries.

Sir Alain de Joinville
The scion of a famous family of horse breeders, Frederic is the older brother of Sir Caledon Dubois de Brionne, who was slain while helping Noé de Chanterelles defend the flank at the battle of Solly’s farm. He has sworn vengeance on the Skaven and has pledged not to leave Bec until the last of the evil ratmen is exterminated.

Sir Frederic Dubois de Brionne
Thierry's cousin Evard was slain by a Warlock’s warp lightning spell during his first battle at the Grove of Isoulde. Like Sir Frederic Dubois, he has vowed revenge, and brought his flying steed to aid the Knights of Bec in defense of their province.

Sir Thierry Delachance D’Aquitaine
Sir Guy is an excellent Knight from a family of high standing in Lyonesse. It is said that his father took him aloft on the back of a pegasus before he had ever ridden a normal horse.

Sir Guy de Lyonesse
Mannfred hails from somewhere in the Empire, and was a good friend of Sir Cedric Fentingmore before Cedric disappeared after the battle of Garoux. Mannfred arrived in Bec shortly thereafter and pledged his Service to Bec de la Chapelle, ostensibly to honor his missing comrade - although there are some who say he is actually fleeing some kind of scandal in Nuln. What is not in doubt is his skill astride his winged steed.

Baron Mannfred Le Rouge
Aodhán comes from a family famed for their skill as swordsmen. He was one of the winners of the original Bec Errantry tournament and won the right to lead a regiment. Taking personal responsibility for Lady’s Phoebe’s fall during the Battle of the Grove of Isoulde, he and his unit undertook the Grail Quest in the hope that it might help save her life. Upon his quest, he endured a fierce battle with a pack of Rat-Ogres in defense of the tomb of Agravaine de Beau Quest, and later faced the Green Knight to prove his worthiness to accept the Lady's Blessing. After he drank from the Grail, he was allowed to keep several drops of the draght, which he carried. cupped in the palm of his hands, as he rode back to Bec over the course of four days and nights without stopping. In this manner he arrived in time to administer the precious life-giving waters to both Lady Phoebe and Lady Christine, who both lay at death's door. The magic in those drops allowed them both to recover and earned Aodhán a powerful reputation as a Living Saint among the people of Bec.

Sir Aodhán de Carcassone
A Damsel of the Grail and the neice of Sir Cedric Fentingmore. She was shamed mightily by rumors of Cedric's cowardice during the Skaven attack on Garoux. Determined to rescue her family's honor, she led a force fo Knights Errant during the first major battle at the Grove of Isoulde. Despite the protestations of her protector Aodhán de Carcassone, she insisted on leaving her unit in order to bolster a unit of Mounted Yeomen who were being overrun by Night Runners. Though the battle was won, Phoebe herself was caught by the night runners, pulled from her horse, and suffered mortal wounds. Aodhán decided to try and save her life the only way he knew how - by taking up the Grail Quest so that he could ask for aid from the Lady of the Lake herself. It was Aodhán's selfless dedication to this goal that eventually saved Phoebe's life, and the two of them now minister to the spiritual needs of Bec de La Chapelle together.

Lady Phoebe de Bec
A young girl from the destroyed village of Garoux, she cut her hair and posed as a man in the hopes that she might avenge herself and her family. After a surprisingly good showing during the Errantry Tournament of Bec, she earned the right to carry the army standard at the battle of the Grove of Isoulde, where she helped destroy a unit of Rat Ogres; and again at Solly’s Farm, where she saved the life of Sir Bertrand de Brionne with a timely charge. At the battle of Les Halles she was targetted by a foul Skaven assasin, and suffered nearly fatal wounds. This led to her unmasking, but Sir Bertrand declared her a true Knight of Bec for her bravery and prowess nonetheless, and the combination of his support and her deeds has allowed her to be accepted as the Standard Bearer of Bec ever since. When Aodhán returned from his quest he was able to spare a drop of the Grail draught for her, which has returned her to hale fighting form. Nobles from other provinces have grumbled mightily at the situation, but when word reached King Louen in Couronne of what was going on, he decided to send to her the sword of Rapanse de Lyonesse from the Royal Reliquary for her to bear in battle. This has mostly silenced the critics, who in any case are reluctant to earn the displeasure of Sir Bertrand, who has grown quite close to Christine over time.
